This major release of SHRINE includes an upgraded query structure - version 2 query messaging , which changes the core definition of how queries are defined, constructed and interpreted. 4.0 is not backward compatible with previous versions. 4.0 also includes an alpha release (undocumented, untested) of the message oriented middleware protocols for Kafka and SQS. In addition, sites now have the option to integrate Single Sign On between SHRINE and their institution's identity provider.
For features, researchers will now be able to add a third event to event based queries and have more granular options to define the relationships between events .
